Our research focuses on transport phenomena and mechanics in biological and geological porous media. In biological media, we are interested in the biophysical mechanisms that regulate blood clot growth and dissolution. We have developed numerous in vitro model of blood clot formation for both fundamental studies and as diagnostics for bleeding and thrombotic disorders. In geological media, we are studying multiphase flow and contaminant transport in micro- and nanofluidic porous media analogs.
