Our research group focuses on the biophysical mechanisms that regulate blood clot formation and dissolution. Our approach for investigating these mechanisms relies on applying engineering science fundamentals, specifically transport phenomena and mechanics, to analyze a spectrum of hemostatic abnormalities from genetic bleeding disorders to thrombosis and stroke. We rely on in vitro, in silico, and in vivo models of vascular injury as a means to both reveal fundamental mechanisms and to design new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. See the links under the Research pulldown menu for more details on recent projects.
